Map of Canaan from the 1611 King James Bible
Introductory sections in the 1611 King James Bible include a two-page map of Canaan with insets detailing Jerusalem and geographical connections to the tribes of Israel. It was created by John Speed, an English cartographer and historian who lived from 1552 to 1629. He is best known for his work in creating detailed maps of various regions, including his famous atlas titled “The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine.”
